Let's face it. Most of us who buy generators are looking for kW/price aka biggest bang, highest horsepower, cheapest etc. I have a lot of generators both Honda suitcase types and open frames - 1kW to 6kW - to serve different power requirements in my farm and fields. All have their own merits and I like all of them. One thing that struck me was that they are either red, black or blue. Generators are a pretty boring piece of equipment that one uses without much thought, day in day out, until you plug a wrong tool to a wrong generator that is. Too busy to think of ratings and capacities and bang you've just destroyed a much loved generator. I've lost quite a few and the truth is that there's not much point trying to repair them so I have a pile of generators in one shed that I hope one day to repair in my retirement or not. So I have learnt the hard way. Recently I found the need to have another so as usual started surfing Amazon, eBay and others as well as places like Machine Mart. Almost every generator looked the same, similar outputs and usual round 110/240 plugs. All pretty boring until that is I saw Union Mart Bohmer AG 2.2kW. For the first time I saw someone had put a lot of effort designing the unique frame and indeed the vibrant colour. Wheels and handles included in what I consider a very reasonable price. Gross weight of 45kg means that at my age I can't even push let alone lift and lug it around without wheels so a definite plus. Then there is instructions on how to determine what equipment can suitably be operated. Wish I had those instructions some years ago. The young chap who delivered the box this morning simply lifted it like it was nothing, took one look at me and said I'll bring it into your house. A huge relief really. I was not prepared for it to be delivered so quickly but very grateful indeed. It took me 10 minutes to put the wheels and handles and realised how pretty it looked. Even my wife thought I bought something fancy without telling her. Guess what. I actually took out my polishing cloth, wiped it all over with my car polish, took pics and texted all my friends to show off. Lot's of them didn't realise it's a generator. Anyhow I rolled it easily round the back of the house, followed detailed instructions that came with it, put oil and unleaded petrol and pulled the cord. 2 easy pulls and le voilà or Bob's your auntie, it came on. Adjusted the throttle, plugged in my hedge trimmer, put the breakers on, and switched the trimmer. Purring away without the slightest care the generator was perfect. I even trimmed a bit of the hedge to see how the generator perform under load. Absolutely brilliant I dare say. I then tried other appliances following the rating instructions in the manual so TV - done, kettle - done and a few cups of tea later, my field lighting and a heater. I just love this generator. It's also the best looking stylish one and extremely good value. It's also quite light compared to some other 2.5kW generators and the wheels and handles make it rather easy to move it about. Actually I have it sitting in my living room so that I can look at it and show off to others. It'll probably be sometime before I take it out in the field. It seems too good and pretty to use so it'll be a while... All I can say is that Union Mart has done me proud. Balanced powerful easy to operate generator that is pleasing to the eyes and a pleasure to use. I'm glad it arrived so early. Opening the box felt like birthday and Christmas has come at the same time. Never felt so excited about a generator so thank you. Read full review

Bought this to power electric garden tools to get at bit of my garden that can't reach with mains extension. Works a treat. Easy to get up and running once you assemble feet handles and wheels and fill with oil. Instructions not right for feet on this model but worked it out. Generator and box had a bit of oil spilled on it which a bit worrying but once wiped off all seems fine. Generator can take a few pulls to start if stopped and restarted once warm but assume might be to do with being new. Runs great and pretty quiet once started and overall quality of paintwork, control panel and general build seems excellent given cost of the item.

I spent ages looking at second hand generators with enough power to run my caravan and at least one set of tyre warmers at the track. Then i stumbled across this one. I read the reviews and placed my order. Well i am extremely pleased with it. It arrived the next day! It was easy to add the wheels, feet and handles, then i just added some fuel and filled it with oil ( this you will need to purchase separately 10W40 is what you need ). It started on the first pull. This is ideal for campsites as it is only 68db, most other generators with this power are around 98db. It is fairly heavy so the wheels are a great addition and make it easy to move around.

I was going to buy a secondhand generator for camping but at about £150 plus carriage at about £50 due to weight and size this generator is superb value on the cost to power front plus I don’t think you can find better build quality either. It looks the business as well so even the wife is happy !
