These radios are excellent. I bought these second hand from eBay (US) for about $120 AUD delivered. In Australia they cost approximately $1000 new, so an excellent purchase. Everything worked as advertised and detailed in the brochure.

I've used these 4-wheeling in east Tennessee mountains weekly & so far they've worked flawlessly. Be sure to program them for satellite channels, not FM. Everyone [12 people] in my off-road group likes them.People that don't hear well can use the earpiece/mic. I can hear someone calling with it hanging on my handlebar. I doubt that it will reach 35 miles in the mountains, but we are usually within 5 miles of each other.Especially nice because they use rechargable battery pack or AA batteries.
I bought these radios for hunting. We hunt in a three man group in some very rough terrain and sometimes at great distances. I like all the features of the radio, especially the weather radio, never know when a quick storm may pop up. I also like the fact that in a pinch you can use regular alkaline batteries if there is no electricity available to recharge.
These are the best radios on their class.
