Easy Fit? Maybe...
When these fail - replacement is the only option, they are not repairable. This is a good solid lock which I will expect to last for many years. I found this a relatively easy replacement – I know that my son would struggle and probably fail. Mine was to be fitted into a wooden door but imagine this would be no different for UPVC. So, I’m not recommending it as a DIY task for everyone but if you’ve already identified the lock case you’re probably good to go. There appeared to be slight difference between the old and new, the new mortise bolt is thicker and required filing the top plate to allow it to pass through. My door security has been restored and so to my peace of mind. So, if you have one of these playing up? Swap it You’ll be pleased you did so before a total failure and then ...
