    Lightweight, compact and discrete, just as I had hoped.

    I have used pre-wired full sized battery cases for C3032 cells. While the switch can be convenient, it's not always essential. I used this sleeve style holder with a Flicker effect 3mm LED connected straight to the terminals (the outside terminals are +ve) so I could stash the whole thing in the engine cab of a model train. It looks great, and keeps the LED out of sight. I commonly use a reed switch to activate carriage lighting, so I don't need to open them up. As long as they are not allowed to short out, these holders are ideal and the least weight to introduce. Better when soldered, but easy enough to rig up with dry connections to test your ideas out.
