I bought this Printer after having good service with the HP6500a. The reason I moved to this printer is the volume of ink that the cartridges hold. The printer I bought was in need of Printer heads, along with Print Cartridges, and although the overall cost was near to buying a new one, I feel that I have now got a printer that meets my needs. I do not use the Fax Facility on it , but do a lot of printing. This Printer is well suited to the small office, very fast and the quality of the print far exceeds the ones I was getting with the HP6500a. This printer has the Duplex facility to allow printing on both sides of the paper. Good for those long reports or newsletters. The printer will also take Compatable cartridges, I'm not sure as to whether to go down that route, as some can be questionable, The print quality is excellant with the genuine cartridges. I have own mine for seven years it has not missed a beat, the page count is now on 4700 pages. Last year I bought a second unit and installed in dads house. This unit second hand is on about 2000 pages and going strong. The only down sides is 10 mins to head align if you request one, and 5 mins head clean, again if you request it, otherwise it’s fantastic, highly recommend for small business

This, unfortunately, is not as good a review as I had hoped to be able to give. I am sure, however, that a NEW (rather than a product return as I purchased) would perform better... Pros: GREAT print quality Individual inks that can be sourced reasonably cheaply (especially if buying after-market compatibles) Accurate scans Wi-Fi Duplex Cons: SLOW at cancelling SLOW at communicating - and not brilliant with Apple Macs! DREADFUL photo prints (thin vertical black line at 1cm interval across entire A4 landscape print) If I can afford a brand new printer, this is the one I'd go for: it just does everything I want it to, DESPITE the shortcomings noted. I'd really like to mark it better; perhaps, one day, I may be able to come back and improve the score!
This is a great printer. We purchased it for our office to allow everyone to printer from their computers, ipad etc and we can not fault it. The running costs are low, the scanning is simple and fast and the print quality is excellent.
I had this printer for many years and have been really pleased with it. It's a bit big and bulky but does everything you need it to. Only problem was that once one of the gears broke (which is quite common in these printers after a while) it isn't repairable.
