Great budget brushless motor
Bought this as a motor for a small (2.5" x 10") lathe. It is of reasonable build quality and it is a little bit "you get what you pay for", but it will certainly do the job. The motor mount is quite configurable and gives good options. The controller is fairly simple, but again good value by having a good amount of configurable options (ramp up rate, max RPM, braking rate, etc). Overall quite happy with this unit even though this isn't the true intended use case. Powers the lathe happily and gets the job done.Bought this as a motor for a small (2.5" x 10") lathe. Perfect, des exactly what it says on the tin.. Give you control over your machine.
It took me about half an hour to fit, you need some big spanners if you want to change the pulley fitted to the smaller one in the box which we did and that was easy too. My existing belt was just long enough with the small pulley fitted (fine with the standard pulley) and it now does what we want, nice and slowly and completely controllable which is what we needed as we do some intricate work on our classic car carpets. No longer do I have to slip the clutch to go round tight corners... Buy it and you won't regret it,, Oh and the motor is about 4 times as small as the one you take off, but it seems ann enough to do what is asked of it. Decent power and very configurable
Very pleased with this motor. Decent power and very configurable. I have used it to replace the motor in my pillar drill and now I have drill speed control from 80 to 1800 rpm. FYI, you can replace the pedal-lever / hall-effect sensor with a voltage follower circuit so that you can set the motor speed to max and then get (virtually) continuous adjustment from 0-max rpm.

Good power for size
I have used the motor and controller to upgrade the motor on my small lathe. The motor is a similar size but much more powerful and had much more torque. The speed in easy to set and even at low rpm the motor will increase the power to hold the desired rpm when under load.
