good for loose slides
tuning slides are often too loose, especially on old instruments,and they can leak, reducing compression. This can be noted by seeing beads of water under the slide. Ultra pure heavy grease stops this, and makes a good seal; should be used sparingly, so the slide still moves easily.

I have a euphonium with a loose tuning slide. This slide grease took up the slack and the slide no longer moves on it's own but I can still move it for tuning
