Excellent transaction. Great vintage artwork, I think a preliminary sketch for a girls' school story illustration, most likely from the 1930s, exactly as described, sold for a very reasonable price, sent and received really quickly. it was safely and securely packed, in stiff card, and yet was not difficult to open. All good! Highly recommended seller.

The item did not arrive because the courier kept on changing the so called delivery date. I would like to stress that this was NOT the fault of the seller as he cannot be held responsible for the workings of a poorly organised courier. Nevertheless, communication with seller was excellent and the cost of the item, plus postage, was promptly refunded without any fuss. Great seller!

  • An excellent book on the Master of Portraiture

Sir Antony van Dyck is acknowledged to have been the most influential portrait painter to ever have practised in Britain. A child prodigy, he left the studio of Rubens and quickly gained a reputation as a portraitist who could produce elegant photo-realistic portrait's in a mannerist style. Brown's book details the life and development of van Dyck, with analysis of his methods and materials, and includes illustrations of his work, many of which are in full colour. A very good book which provides a broad introduction to the Master of mannerist portraiture.
