Synopsis
From the bestselling team of Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard comes Killing Reagan , a page-turning epic account of the career of President Ronald Reagan that tells the vivid story of his rise to power--and the forces of evil that conspired to bring him down. The basis for the 2016 television movie available on streaming. Just two months into his presidency, Ronald Reagan lay near death after a gunman's bullet came within inches of his heart. His recovery was nothing short of remarkable -- or so it seemed. But Reagan was grievously injured, forcing him to encounter a challenge that few men ever face. Could he silently overcome his traumatic experience while at the same time carrying out the duties of the most powerful man in the world? Told in the same riveting fashion as Killing Lincoln , Killing Kennedy , Killing Jesus , and Killing Patton , Killing Reagan reaches back to the golden days of Hollywood, where Reagan found both fame and heartbreak, up through the years in the California governor's mansion, and finally to the White House, where he presided over boom years and the fall of the Iron Curtain. But it was John Hinckley Jr.'s attack on him that precipitated President Reagan's most heroic actions. In Killing Reagan , O'Reilly and Dugard take readers behind the scenes, creating an unforgettable portrait of a great man operating in violent times., From the bestselling team of Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard comes Killing Reagan , a page-turning epic account of the career of President Ronald Reagan that tells the vivid story of his rise to power -- and the forces of evil that conspired to bring him down. Easy Read. Brings back some memories

The book is easy to read with lots of footnotes to explain the text further. I was not as politically astute back then and reading the book gave me more insight to politics than I had ever thought during that time. I'm not finished with the book but, so far I've learned many things about Reagan that I never knew or even heard of - as I did of other politicians. I'm enjoying it...more than the other Killing books by O'Reilly, except the one on Kennedy.

Every O'Reilly bio has been a page turner. Today is the day to read the Reagan bio. He was amazing in a couple of ways. And I didn't know that until I read this. He understood how to deal w the Soviets. He hated communism and socialism. I didn't know his intense hatred of communism was born out of the labor battles during his SAG days. He was an amazing speaker; quite an actor thru his speeches. The relationship he had with his wife was... amazing. It seems he let his wife run the White House thru her use of fortune tellers. Amazing, he apparently walked thru the second term thru in cloud of dementia. And the Iran scandal. A man who refuses to negotiate with terrorists, arms them. I learn so much reading these biographies, but the take away with this book was the barbarism of terrorists.

  • An honest and fair assessment of a great president.

Unlike many biographies, this book tells the whole story. It includes his failings as well as successes. It is very easy to read! From cover to cover, the style of writing keeps drawing you in. I believe this book should be required reading for the general population in order to understand the 1980's and how we are affected to this day by the events of those days. I highly recommend "Killing Reagan!"

  • Good book about history

Even though I lived through these years, I didn't remember a lot of what went on since I was busy.
