The lens, which I bought S/H came without the hood. Out to save money, I bought the after-market one; big mistake, it didn't lock, it moved out of position at the slightest touch. Worse still, it was extremely difficult to remove it from the front of the lens. So, I bit the bullet and stump up the cash for the Canon original. It fits perfectly: the moral is, buy cheap, buy twice!
