  • Underrated just because of the Manic standards

Lifeblood was the MSP attempt at a pure pop record, stay clear if you are looking for the awkward punk sounds of earlier records. I think this album was overlooked for all the wrong reasons, why shouldn't the MSP try different sounds, what a boring world it would be if all they done was try and better the last 12 songs every 3 years. After the press lapped up Send Away The Tigers this year, I honestly think the positive mood would now allow the Lifeblood the praise it deserves. The first half of the album has epic and catchy pop, the second half features slow burning lasting appeal. Standout song has to be "I live to fall asleep" James Dean Bradfield uses his voice to the full potential (past the limits placed on a rock record) Give this album a chance, it has Tony Visconti producing for ...

After the disapointment of "Know your enemy" I was interested to hear this album to see if the manics had lost the plot completely. How wrong could I be, the album opens with the glorious "1985" and " The Love of Richard Nixon" (a grower trust me!) Follwed by "Empty Souls" and my favourite " To Repel Ghosts". If you like the slower side of the Manics then "Always/Never" and "Solitude Sometimes" will appeal. All in all a fantastic Album...

  • Sixth Album from Welsh Rockers

An enjoyable album, although not as good as the early-mid-period albums. 1985,The Love of Richard Nixon and Solitude Sometimes Is are standout tracks. Better than Know Your Enemy but not as good as Eevrything Must Go or Tell Me Your Truth,I'll Tell You Mine. A lot of the songs sound the same!
