    Great value and smooth and responsive bass drum pedal.

    I had purchased one of the Gibraltar 5711S pedals for our church’s Yamaha electronic kit that I play, and have been so pleased with it that I decided to buy another Gibraltar 5711S for my own Yamaha electronic kit at home. Also, recently I used the pedal for a gig, on an acoustic kit. The pedal is smooth, fast, and responsive, and feels light under my foot with good power. I've played the pedal on 22" and 18" bass drums, and I find it works well for classic rock, jazz, and praise and worship.

    Didn't even need to think about it

    I was looking for an inexpensive kick pedal to use with my electronic kit. I bought this one, attached it to the kick and played. Wasn't until after few hours in that I realized I had even thought about the kick pedal at all. Usually there's countless fiddling to get a pedal to be the least distracting, but this pedal was perfectly setup as was and became a transparent part of my playing immediately. I got the hi-hat too, which was equally no-fuss. Excellent values, both of them. I've owned the 9000 dws and mid-grade versions of Pearl and Tama pedals. I think I was overthinking it. Single chain, no adjustments is the way to go when you want to play instead to tinker. Too many features can sometimes ruin a good thing.

    Great pedal... but

    This is a solid pedal for the price. The action is smooth and quiet. The design allows for a powerful feel underfoot. My only complaint (and it seems many manufacturers are doing this- possibly as a cost cutting measure) is that you have to use a drum key to attach the pedal to the bass drum hoop. Its a small inconvenience and not a deal breaker, but I would prefer a wing screw to save me the trouble of pulling out a drum key to attach and remove the pedal. When you are setting up and breaking down the kit after a gig- every second counts. Other than that small detail- a great pedal and a good value.

    Pretty nice, especially at this price!

    It's a smooth acting, well built pedal with many of the features of higher end pedals. I had to take the rubber pad off (comes off easily) to fit the pedal on a drum riser...no problem. You also. A drum key (provided) is also required to clamp the pedal down. All in all, pretty good, especially for the money.
