I stumbled across this doll of a buy, so I purchased it, waited a few ticks, then it was delivered; sooner than we were expecting too; which is always awesome. The item was well packaged, according to its contents. It was exactly as advertised, so it was exactly what we wanted / expected. Will buy more stuff in the future whether I need it or not. Good times; true story, I'm not an actor... Everyone needs to get with Five Star Buy and take shipping lessons!

5950X Best Processor for Performance and Price

This is by all experiences the best processor I have ever used. First time ever owning a 16 core, works better than I even expected. It replaced the AMD Ryzen 3900X that I did own before which I thought at the time about two years ago was cream of the crop, and in many ways still is for price and performance, but I wanted to go the extra step with the 5950X. Yes, you can buy Intel's lineup that competes, but for me, the price, the performance, the longevity of the AMD platform for desktops was an overwhelming decision to make when making this purchase. Don't get me wrong, I still have Intel products and they are great to have, just that for the 4.0 PCIE standard that is currently driving the market, AMD processors are one step ahead. Once we get past this COVID era, and PCIE 5.0 and DDR5 ...

  • Blazing fast processor!

This processor is the best you can get for AM4 if you're looking to keep your AM4 system running for years to come! It may not be better for gaming than a 5700X3D (in some cases), but its a blazing fast processor that can handle anything you throw at it with remarkable speed. I would recommend getting a good motherboard for overclocking (if you're into that), use a good thermal paste, and get at least a 280mm radiator from a reputable brand such as Arctic. I would whole-heartedly recommend this processor for anyone still running AM4.

  • Upgrading from an i9 9900K

I couldn't really justify upgrading from a 9900k unless it was worth the core count. The Intel i9 always did run a little hot, and even with an Corsair AIO. This 5950x has actually been dipping below 90c rather often while the i9 would jump passed 90c rather often. The same tasks have the temps sit at about the same, but I do notice that when I hammer the i9 the cores trade off the work within Windows 10, meanwhile the same tasks hammer ALL of the 5950X cores at the same time. Regardless, the end results allow me more than enough speed to continue my work while background tasks burn away.

  • Spend you money on something else.

There was a 40% improvement in the Cinebench score (multi-core) over a 3900X. I expected a 52% improvement (33% for the extra 4 cores and 19% for the improved Instructions per Clock). Still 40% isn't too bad. So far, I haven't found a motherboard which will let me put a video card in the primary slot, only in the secondary. Antonline's price was only 10% over list, so while not a bargain, at least it was better than the 50% over list the other places were charging. Bottom line: I would'nt do it again. A 75% premium in price over the 3900X isn't worth it for my needs.
