The novelist also provided the screenplay for the production, which is directed by Julie Ann Robinson. Set in a small Georgia beach town of Tybee Island, 17 year old Veronica 'Ronnie' Miller (Cyrus) is sent by her mother (Kelly Preston) to spend the summer with Steve (Greg Kinnear). A once promising child piano prodigy, Ronnie's love of music is reawaken by her estranged father. Her passion for life is also reawaken by resident hottie Will (Liam Hemsworth). THE LAST SONG is a story of family, friendship and first love, as tragic as it is heart-warming, a surefire classic.
