I bought this video because I've wanted to see it ever since I saw clips of it in Metallica's "One" video years ago. I've heard other people talk about it and how good it was, so I decided to buy a copy. Well, folks, this movie is out of print in the United States and has been for some time. So I ended up buying an old VHS copy on Ebay, and I was pleased. It isn't a movie for everybody, but I think it's an interesting movie. Some of the anti-war and atheistic overtones in the movie might offend some people and keep them from watching it, but the overall theme of the movie should strike a chord with nearly everyone who sees it. It made me rethink some of my views on war, life, euthanasia, living wills, prostitution, sunlight, time, day, night, things taken for granted, you name it.

  • War's reality

Absolutely outstanding VHS film (NTSC format)!! The subject matter is not recommended for everyone because of it's intensity (a WWI US soldier loses most of his body and is confined to a hospital with his thoughts). Many reviewers consider it an anti-war film (which it may be) but I see the human interest angle in it. Very thought provoking. NOT recommended for children or to watch on a date. Note that this review is made with no knowledge as to who the potential seller may be.

  • A must see for anyone that abhors war like myself

Have been looking for this movie for a long time at a decent price and finally found it. The movie is extremely depressing but I read the book many years ago and wanted to see it on film. Being a Vietnam vet, it took me back 40+ years but it really exposes the ugliest side of war.

  • excellent movie

It is one of the more true to life movies concerning the casaulties of war. VERY GOOD to watch with the family
