About this product

Product Information

4x4 EVO 2 for GameCube is an off-road racing title featuring over 40 licensed trucks from the following nine auto manufacturers: Dodge, Jeep, Lexus, Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Chevrolet, GMC, and Infiniti. Exclusive to this GameCube port are the Jeep Liberty, Lexus RX300, and two other 2002 models. Each truck can be further customized through upgrades purchased after winning in a Career mode. Other modes include Free Roam, Time Attack, and Quick Race. A total of 35 outdoor tracks, four of which appear only in this version of the game, offer rugged terrain filled with sharp inclines, rocks, trees, and inclement weather.

Before racing, players can adjust the vehicle's tire type, transmission, suspension, brake balance, and handling. Other notable options include four weather conditions (clear, foggy, dense fog, or rain), adjustable laps from one to 20, and racing during midday or dusk. Time Attack has players competing for the fastest lap time, with a ghost image of the vehicle establishing the pace. Free Roam allows players to learn a course without worrying about time or opponents, but with the added incentive of finding a secret item.

Career is the main focus of play, where players start with 30,000 dollars to purchase a vehicle and then compete in four types of races: Series, Qualifying Events, Team, and Missions. Qualifying Events are single races that enable players to enter a Series, where they can earn cash by winning a tournament. Once players gain notoriety by winning, a special team race will open up on a specific course. The object is to beat four competing vehicles through five laps. Win the team event and special "membership" upgrades will become available for purchase.

Missions involve completing certain objectives for cash, using a map as a guide. A number of hidden areas are also awaiting discovery in this style of race, offering more chances to earn money. Acquired vehicles, parts, and career statistics are viewable from the garage players return to after each race. Players can sell vehicles, buy vehicles, and shop for performance enhancing equipment, such as new lights and better suspension. A car wash also exists to clean off mud and dirt so a truck can return to its showroom appearance.

  • Fun way to spend some free time

One of the better driving games from the early 2000s that wasn't need for speed. Participate in races; customize your vehicle; complete side missions; join a team and compete against other racers for the ultimate prize.

  • 4x4 EVO 2 Nintendo Gamecube game

My 6 year old son LOVES this game. It has a really simple free roam version in which he can just drive a vehicle of his choice around many different landscapes. But it also has races, and more challenging ways to build a vehicle or go on adventures. Great game! Better if you have the instructions though to help out.

  • For how old

    It was in awesome shape

  • Great Game

This is an excellent four wheelin game...you can buy hop-up items for your truck... lift, tires, gearing, and many other parts as well. Great game, and lots of fun!

  • Worth ebay price

We got this for around $11 on ebay, and it was worth it. My kids love the options, the vehicles, they are completely unaware at how much older this game is than their other games. Only complaint, it takes a bit longer to load in the beginning, than some similar games... but my kids say it's noticeable but not bothersome.
