  • The Snowman

DVD film was purchased for my 5year old Grandson after seeing advert on TV, at the time we did not know that his school nativity play was going to be 'The Snowman'. Therefore it was perfect as when he watched the DVD he was able to point out which snowman he was going to play at school. It also gave him an insight into what the whole Theme was about.

  • Timeless classic.

This DVD is the special 20th Anniversary Edition celebrating a timeless classic that, unlike the children who watch it, never grows old. In 1982 I was six when this film was first broadcast on British TV. It made me cry then and it still does now. The Snowman is the tale of an unnamed boy who builds a snowman one winter's day. The day appears to be either Christmas or New Year's Eve, but this is not explicitly stated. That night, at the stroke of twelve, the snowman comes to life. The boy and his frosty friend have a few adventures together involving floating through the sky (cue specially written "Walking In The Air" by Peter Auty - it's not the Aled Jones version in the film!) and going to see Father Christmas at the North Pole. • great film

original film and better than later versions. great to watch every Christmas and winter, something for all the family.

  • A present for affirms

I bought this for an old friend in Holland, who had seen it many years ago and constantly talked about it. She said the story was magical and very heart warming and the music was beautiful. She was 90 in November and I took it as one of her presents. I read some reviews which found that some of the content at the top of the film the had been cut in the reproduction process and I tried to find an original, but although the one I bought was advertised as 2002 I don't know if it is the remake version as I have not seen it myself but I am going to buy a copy.
