Nikon D4 Simply the worlds greatest camera to date..........even Nikon cant better it yet.
The D4 is now getting on a bit, but compared to more modern cameras, it still has a certain quality to it, and it blows most modern cameras away with the way it handles and the images it produces, I was silly and bought a D810 purely for the IQ and soon realised pixels aren't everything, it simply couldn't match the quality the D4 offered, I shoot aircraft by the way, so yes the D810 was hopelessly outclassed by the D4 but the only way a D810 or the new D850 will exceed a D4 is if you have to blow the images up by 400% or more but even then you are risking the moire issue popping up, I never experienced this but it happens, anyway if you need a fast camera then this is it, AF is as Ken Rockwell says, its clairvoyant and locks on before you even think about it, it really is that fast, its ... The D4 is now getting on a bit, but compared to more modern cameras, it still has a certain quality to it, and it blows most modern cameras away with the way it handles and the images it produces, I was silly and bought a D810 purely for the IQ and soon realised pixels aren't everything, it simply couldn't match the quality the D4 offered, I shoot aircraft by the way, so yes the D810 was hopelessly outclassed by the D4 but the only way a D810 or the new D850 will exceed a D4 is if you have to blow the images up by 400% or more but even then you are risking the moire issue popping up, I never experienced this but it happens, anyway if you need a fast camera then this is it, AF is as Ken Rockwell says, its clairvoyant and locks on before you even think about it, it really is that fast, its 16mp and that really is plenty for todays shooter, forget 30+ mp and look at the facts, the D3 is still the king of the pros workhorses and its 12mp, then Nikon upped it to 24mp with the D3X and slowed the camera down by 50% so went back to 12.1mp with the legendary D700 and when the D4 came out with the latest technology, you would have expected 24 or more mp, but no 16mp was the way to go, silly mp isn't, even the ultra priced D5 hasn't reached 24mp FX yet that has gone to 20mp and £6k so save your hard earned and get a D4 its the best fast action/photo journalist workhorse tool you can buy.
