Live Through This is Hole's 2nd album; a triumphant story of love, addiction, affliction, and identity crisis as demonstrated by the lyrical and vocal guise of front woman Courtney Love and band mates. The swirling grungy guitars bespeak the darkness of unrequited love coupled with addiction. Fueled by abusive relationships and a restless energy, Love howls her way into history with songs like "Violet", "Miss World", and "Jennifer's Body". But the album also speaks of a formidable depth and intelligence as heard in "Doll Parts" and "Softer, Softest". The woman is hurt, the woman is angry and her attitude in "Miss World" paints Love to be a strong woman coveted, although this is ironic because she feels so weak in her role as a daughter, a lover, and a modern woman in a world filled with ...
