  • Biloxi Blues (DVD, 2004)

Movie synopsis In the second of Neil Simon's semi-autobiographical trilogy (with BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS and BROADWAY BOUND), Matthew Broderick plays Simon's alter ego, Eugene Jerome. This time Eugene is in army basic training during World War II, and his general dissatisfaction with military life is exacerbated by his sadistic drill sergeant, Toomey (performed with comic perfection by Christopher Walken). Eugene has three goals--to get out of the army alive, to lose his virginity, and to fall in love. In funny, poignant lessons, Eugene learns about friendship from his fellow soldiers, about sex from a down-home, no-nonsense prostitute, and about love from a local girl he meets at a dance. The strong supporting cast includes Park Overall as the prostitute and Penelope Ann Miller ...

  • A Classic Comedy

This movie is by far both VERY FUNNY and TOUCHING. Matthew Broederick gives an outstanding preformance and his one liners are GR8! The entire cast is phenomenal, the casting was perfect. Christopher Walken steals the movie as the half crazed Sgt. Toomey. To me, this is Walken at his finest. He should do much more comedy. Probably the best part of the movie is the opening 20 minutes of the train ride of the troops to their training base in Biloxi, Mississippi. MB's comments of the heat when they arrive are hysterical. There are too many scenes that crack one up and I do not want to ruin the movie. Although this is a comedy and does not show the gore and trauma the troops saw in battle one scene does remind all of us what war really is. You'll know it when you see ...

  • Reliving movies from my past.

A great movie. I watched it years ago and decided to buy a DVD for the past years library. I like to watch movies from my past sometimes when there's nothing else on TV.

  • Biloxi Blues Not Blue At All

Biloxi Blues is a great film if you like movies about the military... (no actual battle, but some real experiences from basic training) and comedy, which this is chock full of (A LOT of adult humor). I have enjoyed Biloxi Blues ever since I was on part of the set here in Arkansas (where some filming took place), and when it came out in theaters. A "must have" for your collection!
