  • Best Wide Lens for the Money

After a few weeks of use it is becoming one of my favourite lenses, it is well balanced on my Nikon D5300 even after adding a battery vertical grip, I like the chunky feel and is easy to control, but be aware it is either in ‘af’ or ‘mf’ not a part time af with manual override so never force the focus ring when in auto focus as this could do some damage, otherwise this lens focuses fast, has very crisp images and if you have been used to working with smaller aperture lenses it may take a while to get used to the smaller depth of field, so not always able to shoot at a big 2.8f stop. Compared to my Nikon 18-200mm I find the wide end has a lot less distortion and it is noticeable that extra width of 17mm, needless to say this one stays one the camera the most. Conclusion, they are many Nikon ...

  • Beautiful little lens (figure of speech)

This is an investment to replace all my older glass below the 50 mm line, well worth the money, altho still gonna use my m42 55mm for the 1.8f Focus is super faster in manual, major advantage for me, the constant 2.8f is a thing of grace on a zoom lens Worth buying if your doing video

  • Great lens, with great features.

For the price the results are stunning, it is not advertised as a macro lens but with a minimum focal distance of less than 4" it is good enough for me, perhaps I was lucky and got a good one but I really could not be happier than I am with this lens. The range is great,17mm for landscape and 50mm for portrait, it covers it all. The lens is so sharp that 100% enlargements are possible. This now permanently on my A77.

  • picture is to soft

When you buy an f2.8 lens you expect to be able to get pin point sharp pictures. But the Tamron 17-50 does not deliver. At 17 mm it is very soft at the edges, it gets better at 35 but the right hand side was softer than the left. So to be honest I wish I had never bought this lens. The Sigma 17-50 mm is a superior lens. However the Tamron f2.8 24-70mm G2 and the f2.8 70-200 G2 are both fantastic lens and would recommend them to any one hopefully Tamron will make a 17-50 f2.8 G2 lens.

  • Tamron 17- 50 f 2.8

I have not had much opportunity to put this lense through a thorough test , however , what pictures that I have taken are sharp as a pin. I am glad that I bought this lens. Delivery was very prompt and it was very securely parcelled .
