    GREAT, Edgy Break-Out Solo Comedy Album

    D.L. Hughley's first solo comedy album, Notes from the GED Section, is what you would get if you crossed Def Comedy Jam's edginess with Bill Cosby home-spun humor. The album has a club feel to it. Hughley is apparently working in a venue intimate enough that he has to handle a heckler at one point. The 18 routines are laugh-out-loud funny and the album is well worth the purchase price. Notes from the GED Section's topical material includes family, love, race, sex, and work. Hughley's down-to-earth delivery and seemingly world-weary style puts a sharp edge on all of his routines. If you have seen D.L. Hughley's work on HBO or Def Comedy Jam, you know what to expect.
