Wonderful story
This book was a favorite of my grandson when he was age 5-8 so I bought it for his son when he reached that age. The animal characters are original and the story compelling as the animals save the town from a flood. Also timely in these days of climate change and natural disasters.

Although the exciting story certainly captivates its young readers, it is really the illustrations by Philippe Fix that make this book especially remarkable and a treasure. They are inviting with their myriad of images all in fine detail, and imbued with a glossy magic! My children and I still want to visit the Old Lady's house, walk through it and talk to all the animals, have tea, and stay safe during the tremendous storm. Get 2,one to read and look at over and over again, and another to save for the grand children!Although the exciting story certainly captivates its young readers, it is really the illustrations by Philippe Fix that make this book especially remarkable and a treasure. Alexander and the Magic Mouse by Martha Sanders (1969)
This was a beautiful book and I was very pleased with it. My husband had one when he was a child and it was his favorite book because of the wonderful artwork. I surprized him by finding this book for him in good shape as his was pretty much destroyed. He absolutely loved it and is excited to share it with me and our little boy. It is a very cute story and I am happy I bought it. They have not remade the book, so I feel that it was quite the find for it to be in that good of shape.This was a beautiful book and I was very pleased with it.
