My expectation was a clean octave below the note I was playing. The Octabass produces a processed sound with no discernable delay and will complement or replace the note. After working with it for a few minutes I got to like it a lot. I'm using a power supply from Guitar Center ($20) as the Octabass does not come with a power supply. All good.

The EBS OctaBass Triple Mode Octave Divider is one of the best analog octave down pedals. When one plays a note it produces a note one octave below the original pitch. That one note can make all the difference in ones bass sound. I can't even recognize my sound without this pedal in the mix. The OctaBass literally creates a new sound triggered by your note that can't easily be described. Some say its fatter and smoother. Do yourself a favor and try one out with your own bass at your local store and hear the difference. Now that I've explained why I'm crazy about the OctaBass, here are some more text book type observations about the pedal that I've made. The dry and effect sound can be blended with two sturdy pots. A less sturdy toggle switch between the pots switches between high, mid and low ranges for tonal control. Just the right distance away from the pots and toggle is the rock solid footswitch. It has a crisp on/off click. The bright on/off LED is easily recognized. The audio jacks accept 1/4 mono or stereo. This allows one to power the pedal with phantom power from another device. Other powering options are 9V battery or DC adapter. The enclosure is very robust and is heavier than many average to small sized pedals. Pots, switchs, and jacks are located on the enclosure in the typical layout making for easy pedalboard integration. The paint is basic and understated and labels are easy to read and understand. As with all bass guitar octave pedals there are some tracking issues. The exact note where the signal begins to break up can vary but the one I've purchased starts to lag on the fifth fret on the E string. Everything above that tracks perfectly. If you play most of your notes below the low D you may want to dial the Normal pot up and the Octave pot down a bit to remove the tracking errors from the forefront of your sound. Do not let the tracking issues put you off of the OctaBass as it is a common problem with many octavers. Again, check this pedal out in person and it may be the next addition to your rig.Read full review
Great range, switching ability between lo and high registers.

Well, its a great brand, and the general reviews and even their own review says this tracks great and sounds great and all that.. well not so much. It did weird delayed tracking and was jumping up octaves not holding the low octaves.... Unreliable sounds, it was unusable for me personally. I resold it within two weeks. I Gave it 3/5, but just because it didn't work for me doesn't mean that pros aren't able to apply this to their needs in a proper way that suits them and their sound. Just not me. Rule of thumb, always try a pedal before buying it... duh....
