Perfect for restoring old Weinmann non-aero levers
These hoods were a perfect fit for the old Weinmann non-aero levers on my bike. They are from an old Schwinn Spring, but in use on a dirt-drop MTB. They are actually the “safety lever” style, but I chopped the pivot flush at the housing and removed the safety levers, to give more braking action, so yes, they will fit that type of lever, if you chop the pivot and file it flush. The hoods are easy to install: just remove the cable, imbed the housing stops in the hood tops where they go, and rub isopropyl alcohol on the inside of the hood, and on the lever housing if you like. They slip on without difficulty or damage. The hoods themselves look nice and are of a rubber that has a decent feel, not sticky or hard. Also, they cover all surfaces of the lever housing without being so much in ... These hoods were a perfect fit for the old Weinmann non-aero levers on my bike. Killer price and great feel.
Great feel, A bit of a dated look, but fit great for older bikes. The obnly trick was getting the brake cable end stopper in a good place. I ended up placing that under the boot but it took some twisting and bending. They feel and work great once on.
