Its like a medical Sherlock Holmes.
Entertaining and engaging. Hugh Laurie's brilliance as a doctor makes up for his bedside manner! Top acting by Laurie and the rest of the cast. In later series I believe House has a change of staff. This is probably needed over a total of eight series, but I have only seen Series One so far.

The beginning of the House era - Season 1
I originally bought this item purely because I'd just happened to catch an episode of House a little while back on Sky, and so have seen everything from Season 5 all the way to the current episode, so I thought it would be a good idea to go back to the beginning. This show is a medical drama, a step up from Scrubs, being a little bit more serious and in-depth. Hugh Laurie stars as Doctor Gregory House, a medical genius, who doesn't feel the need for all the social rules that people follow, and so can come across as a heartless, tactless, grump. Though you quickly learn he is doing what he does for all the right reasons. This first series of the show is just "setting the scene", just everybody getting to know each other. Though the new medical mysteries every episode add consistency, the ... So overall it's well worth a buy, and I'm sure you will become hooked and soon be reading reviews for the second, third and seventh seasons. The things I dislike? Purely the way the box-set is put together. Each disk has it's own case, so that's 6 cases within the box, where as the US box-set and later series put 2 discs per box, so it takes up less room on the shelf, and generally just looks more presentable. Though this is just me being picky.

I bought this because I have been watching a few episodes of Season 2 on TV recently, thoroughly enjoyed it and wanted to catch up on the previous episodes. The characters, especially House played by Hugh Lawrie, are brilliantly acted, and each episode presents a real challenge to the team of doctors. Thoroughly enjoyable, can't wait for Season 2 on DVD.
