when I got it in the mail I sent a letter to whoever sent it that when I open the package that it cane in it was cracked half way no I didn't get to watch it and I was very disappoint it took to long to get to me and yes I am very mad lesion learned I guess whoever that was that sent it to me that is where I sent the letter it didn't even have a jacket I will never do business with you guys again I haven't had time to comtack e bay yet because there was a death in my family but I will when I get done with all the primblems tht im deaking with from a very mad e bay user mike barrett

The recording is formatted to fit a TV set, not the newer LCD pannels. This was not disclosed to the buying community. Now there is a black border on all four sides of the movie, and the actual frame of the movie is quite a bit smaller than it should be.

Same basic plot as the 1968 Steve McQueen original. This time Pierce Brosnan is Crown, and Renne Ruso is the insurance specialist. The mark is a priceless Monet worth $100M. The McQueen movie was better, rather old school, with a slick, but intelligent plot. This one is also good, but attempts to be a little too clever, and comes off as "corny". After all, he is playing Thomas Crown, not James Bond. In my opinion, someone a lot better looking than Renne Ruso would have added more appeal to her character. Ruso just looks a little old and worn out to play the part of the "temptress".
Fabulous plot, settings...gorgeous actors (Rene and Pierce), fun movie. Great sound track, too.

Thomas Crown is an excellent cat and mouse movie that is stolen away by Hollywood's need to stuff in sex & nudity! Let's get this right out of the way! Rene Russo, who plays an Insurance investigator, shows off her boobs 3 times, at least 2 of which could be avoided. Russo struts her stuff in a sex scene with costar Pierce Brosnan. The scene is necessary, but showing off her boobs wasn't & could have been avoided based on the rest of the scene. Another time, Russo goes to the beach topless. Which? Russo would say in an interview that she felt it was OK because of her character's European roots, but the bottom line was that it was totally unnecessary! The only time baring her breasts fits is when she is trying to entice Brosnan with a sexy dance wearing a totally shear dress & nothing on underneath it. Moving on though. This is an excellent movie about a bored excessively rich playboy (Brosnan) who decides to steal a rare Monet painting from The Het. It is worth 100 mil! The insurance company sends Russo to help Police detectives Dennis Leary & Frankie Faison with the investigation. Russo's game is the hunt & she repeatedly thwarts the Police by daring & baiting Brosnan. Leary is attracted to her & she to Brosnan even though she is trying to convict him & get the painting back. The majority of the movie deals with the cat & mouse game played between Brosnan & Russo as well as their growing affection for each other. Brosnan always manages to stay 2 steps ahead of those trying to trap him & it all climaxes in an awesome finale as Brosnan returns the Monet right in front of 1/2 the NYC Police force. Film fans will enjoy frequent appearances by Fate Dunaway as Brosnan's shrink. Dunaway played Russo's character in the original costarred by Steve McQueen. This film is a wonderful romp that keeps you constantly guessing even though we already know "who donnit!" There is some humor as Brosnan outwits his would be captors & plenty of twists & turns. It's a shame they felt obligated to give us a healthy dose of Russo's boobs! They're not bad, but hardly needed to sell this terrific suspence film!Read full review
VIEWERS NEED TO PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THIS MOVIE BECAUSE OF A FEW SURPRISING TWISTS. IT'S A NICE LOVE STORY WITH SOME PRETTY SCENERY. PIERCE IS A HANDSOME GENTLEMAN - OF COURSE. IT'S DEFINITELY A "FAIRY TALE"...BUT A NICE ESCAPE FROM REALITY. I BOUGHT THIS DVD, BECAUSE I REALLY ENJOYED IT - ON TV...I DIDN'T KNOW THAT THE THEATER VERSION WAS "R" RATED. IT DIDN'T NEED THE NUDITY, CURSING, OR SEXUAL REFERENCES - THAT WERE OBVIOUSLY MISSING FROM THE TV VERSION. OTHER THAN THESE ISSUES - IT'S CLEVER, ROMANTIC ENTERTAINMENT.
A great love story, that is filled with drama and some action. If you loved the original, you will love this one

REMAKE~ WEALTHY Thomas Crown~ (Pierce Brosnan) lives the VERY good life~ but is bored~ so he steals a priceless painting for the thrill of it~ REMAKE OF THE STEVE MCQUEEN/FAY DUNWAY ORIG~ BROSNAN IS THOMAS CROWN~ A WEALTHY handsome but very bored man~ who visits the art museum to see his favorite work of art~ he is really "casing the joint" and planning a fun and clever high tech way to steal a $100 million painting~ the theft very entertaining~~ foreign stooges hired by Crown to "hide" in a Trojan Horse (work of art) and invade the museum~ and WE WATCH THE removal of a painting~along the way Crown sits in plain site and watches HIS hired stooges but he has his own agenda~ as he trips one of the stooges and while the very distracted guards CAPTURE THE STOOGES~ CROWN steals the priceless painting~a MONET~ AND walks out the MUSEUM FRONT DOOR~ Rene Russo is the very pretty insurance investigator hot on his trail~ distracting is their "affair" and some nude scenes but Russo never looses track of her job to trap Crown for his crime~ add SOME HUMOR TO THE CRIME~~ Russo is very sexy and smart still looks great in nothing at all~ but ending is different from the orig. still a FUNNYside line is WE see Crown talking with his SHRINK cleverly cast WITH FAYE DUNWAY as psychiatrist helping Crown work on his "issues with trust and women"~DUNWAY WAS in the orig version of this movie~ ~ I GIVE IT A 9 OUT OF 10 FOR CLEVER PLOT AND FANTASTIC HIGH TECH CRIME~ AND HUMOR~ I GIVE CASTING 8 OUT OF 10 FOR MATURE BROSNAN AND RUSSO WE LIKE~ IF YOU FOUND THIS REVIEW HELPFUL PLEASE REMEMBER TO VOTE~Read full review
This movie was greater than the original. More exciting this time because of new technology and storyline. It was even better to see Faye Dunaway had a bit part as a psychologist. Oh yeah. And Denis Leary from the old MTV days.
