Small enough that the dog (lab/lurcher cross) doesn't notice it. Accurate mapping, and works we'll with Google maps. The company own app is well thought out and easy to use. Only down side is the annual subscription for the service, and a lack of distance measured that the animal has actually travelled. Would recommend the device.

I decided to buy the Tractive device because it seemed to have good reviews and be what we needed for out beagle cross dog who sometimes goes off after animal scents and can disappear for long periods. However, this device is not very good at holding the GPS signal in woods which is where we have most problems so we are not very happy with it. We started off with it on his collar but it hangs under his chin so we tried it on a harness so it stays 'in clear view of the sky' as recommended, but again not much good in woods. The App seems to work fine on my phone but it's frustrating when my phone knows where I am by GPS but not the Tractive device. If I had bought this from the UK, I would have sent it back but coming from the manufacturer in Austria I am thinking twice about it. I also bought the 2 year package so will continue using it in the hope that if he does go off for a long time he will eventually come to an open space where he will be picked up.Read full review

I was going to design a pet tracker until I found this product. At £50 it seems a bargain but it must be remembered that there is a monthly subscription to use the GPS which is around £4 and this rises to around £5.50 if you want to insure the tracker for loss or damage. This was a surprise as I am not sure it was clearly stated on the purchase details, however, the product is brilliant and I would see the cost as worthwhile. The tracker that attaches to the dog's collar is about the size of a electronic car key fob so a little larger than I would like but I guess it needs to be this size to contain the electronics. It is well-sealed and on wet walks in mud and rain it has been resilient so far (and its insured anyway). One charge seems to last about a week of typical dog walks of 1-1.5 hours and the charging is easy. Of course it is the tracking using the App that is the key to the success of this item. We live in a region with slightly iffy mobile phone reception but still we get enough of a signal to be able to find out where the dog has got to when she heads off for a spot of hunting. It is interesting to see the route taken (which can be seen either on the mobile app or afterwards on a PC at home) and there is also a facility on the app to help locate a dog that has gone missing which effectively directs the user to the dog with a combination of direction and distance. Finally, there is both a light and an alarm that can be switched on the tracker remotely from the PC or phone - useful if the dog goes missing in the dark or if the tracker did become detached and you were searching for it. In summary this is a clever device that works just as well as I had hoped it would.Read full review

Best tracker I have found with a very attractive plan. The satellite view is great. I would even consider having one in my car. Bertie my Barmy Bedlington Terror is now easy to find when he gets off on his own Squirrel Tracking trails.

We have a Northern Inuit who, although well trained, cannot resist the lure of food. She only needs to get a whiff of something she considers might be edible and she's gone. Thanks to the Tractive tracker we can find her easily, I also like the fact that I can keep track of the whole walk my husband takes them in so know when to put the dinner on
