why is this not a thing?

Gosh. This thing has everything. a fair range of devices, lights, it even learns stuff it doesn't know. and all of it is really simple stuff. great instructions to make it even simpler. To program, you simply hold a button down until your device does something. kinda cool, actually. I recommend, but gave it a star less because it couldn't connect to my blu-ray (with the learning function, i set up necessary buttons with ease, however.) I don't think Philips is still putting these out, as I had to go to ebay to find this one, but if you can find one i would recommend getting it. you won't be let down.

  • Just what I needed

I'm one of those guys with a box full of remote controls. I have used cheap ones, relatively expensive ones, and dozens in between. At the price they were selling these I bought three. Call me crazy! My equipment consisted of a fairly new Samsung smart TV, a Panasonic blue ray DVD, a Magnavox DVR, and a Vizio sound bar. I was able to program the remote quickly using the supplied codes for the TV and DVD. I used the learning function for the DVR and sound bar. I am very pleased with the results. Is it five stars? No, but for the price, it is amazing. Now that being said, I passed one of them on to a friend who has been trying to program it for a week. These remotes require some familiarity with universal remotes. I will end up programming it for him, I imagine.

  • Phillips remoteon

Great product. Shame they don't make them any more. Pros easy to program from old Phillips I have, or from other remotes. Cons can only program one button at a time. Does not have codes for newer electronic devices. Sometimes you get lucky and an device will have the code in the Phillips device, but my new Yamaha receiver, Sony blue ray and Visio tv had to be programmed one button at a time.

  • very good universal remote at very good price

I have 4 of these remotes: using 2 and 2 for spares. You can control any infrared device using this remote and its learning functions. I control a Samsung Smart Tv, Roku 3, VCR, DVD player, DTV converter and Sony audio center with same remote. you can even combine device functions(ie controlling sound and tv channels). YOU DO NEED A WORKING REMOTE TO USE THE LEARNING FUNCTION. having the learning functions lets you duplicate original remote, no just a few basic functions.

  • A fantastic, flexible, and inexpensive learning remote

The Philips 5107 is a learning universal remote control that's been around for awhile through several revisions and is still going strong. If you are trying to consolidate your remote control collection, it's a sure-fire purchase. If you're looking to replace a missing or broken remote, you'd be better off buying it in a store and I'll explain why. The thing to remember about universal remotes is that they contain databases of codes used by manufacturers to control devices. New devices come out every year, so if you buy a brand new television, a remote from two years ago may not be able to control it. Ebay sellers often don't know what they've got and may misrepresent the device they're selling. The SRP5107, SRP5107/17, SRP5107WM17, and SRP5107/27 are all very similar remote controls. ...
