    A Fine Reference Collection

    One of the BBC's most ambitious projects: a 'complete works' of Britain's greatest literary figure. The performances are a little outdated, but it is extraordinary to have all the plays available (other than those which subsequently came to light). A specially good feature is the subtitles, which make the odd archaic word clear, and gives the spelling if a dictionary has to be used!

    Excellent value and quality

    I bought the complete plays of Shakespeare for a Christmas present for my husband. He is delighted with them and will spend many happy hours watching them. The acting is superb, but then it’s the BBC.s as it used to be actors, a joy to see a very young Derrick Jacobi and other actors who we have become familiar with over the years. An excellent buy.

    A thorpoughly well done tribute to the world's greatest playwright. In my opinion.

    As a teaching aid this must be hugely useful; full text versions, spoken well enough that every word is clear. Some of the performances are not the best; some are wonderful. With today's technical advances a similar project would be much more spectacular and 'filmic'. But this will do until such a set comes along to supplant it.
