    An Almost Perfect Set

    "Campion" season one is wonderful! A series of delightful mysteries starring Peter Davison (Dr Who, All Creatures Great & Small) as Margery Allingham's clever sleuth, Albert Campion. Set in the 1930's, the style and wit of these stories are both engaging and amusing. The plots are clever, and the settings are remarkable. Why "almost perfect"? Well, the set I received had one disc, "Police at the Funeral" which was a Region 2 disc, not compatible with US dvd players. (This, I'm sure, was the fault of the manufacturer, not the dealer.) Fortunately, I was able to find a single edition of this episode on Ebay to replace it. If not for that single flaw, it would definitely be a full 5 stars. As I said, this was a mistake on the manufacturer's part which I'm also sure is rare. As for the 4 ...

    Campy, Tries too hard...

    The actors are OK, but this is set in the 30's, but is just old fashioned and the plots are derivative and silly. I usually enjoy British humor, but found this boring. CAMPION is a GREAT sedative! I have fallen asleep within 20 minutes each time. I gave it a good value, criteria: there are enough hours to watch (or fall asleep to, as the case may be...).
