    Huge improvement over Kit Lens

    The difference in using the DA 55-300mm versus the kit DAL 55-200mm lens is pretty large. The auto focus is quicker as is the manual focus. The included hood keeps lens flare to a minimum and even at 300mm, the lens takes sharp, hard focused pictures. It is a bit heavier than I expected but has metal mounts so it is not in danger of falling off your camera. My primary walking around lens when there may be a long shot needed. I am very happy I purchased this lens.

    Great lens for the price!

    This is simply a great lens for the price! I'm not a professional so to spend thousands of dollars on a lens that is only fractionally better makes no sense! A tripod helps a lot with this lens especially at the highest zoom levels! If you read other reviews by Pentax users you'll see this lens rates very high.

    Great second lens

    Great second lens, without breaking the bank. I am an enthusiastic amateur photographer and this definitely goes with me in my backpack. I have added a third zoom to my kit as well. My three auto focus zoom are 1) 10 to 17, 2) 18 to 55, 3) 55 to 300. They work great for me.

    Love it his lens. I am now travel with only 2 lenses — this one and a wide angle zoom such as 17 - 35mm). Also: great if you can get VVivitar 13mm.

    This 55-300mm is light, fast and small. Cons: 1. can’t be used as wide angle . Randy limited time 55mm smallest. 2. Not for fast tracking shot. Pros: 1. Good for traveling. 2. Low cost. I paid less than $100 from Ebay. Highly recommended.
