  • Brilliant, wish I had the ES-2 setup years ago.

I've been scanning 35mm chromes (slides) for decades and I've never seen the quality I'm getting out of the ES-2. I've modified it a bit to get more than a full frame using a 60mm f2.8 AF D NIKKOR and a Nikon 2x extension tube. I am also using an old Norman LH-2000 head with a small soft box. The ES-2 is brilliant. I am loving it. P.S. I also bought the 60mm f2.8 NIKKOR on eBay.

Nikon is well aware of the shortcoming, so the ball is in their court if they wish to invest in correcting the matter. Otherwise the color slide and B&W negative capture/conversion is fine. Working with the appropriate Nikon camera and macro lens makes work overall easier than with other film scanners. What is ...
