Far easier to change my dual core cpu for this 4 core cpu not a huge difference in performance just now and again you noticed hay that was QUICKER! But paid £25 For this cpu which was $1500 when it first came out.

This Processor runs at a lower operating voltage than the lesser quad cores in the range, so it run's at a lower temp. With the way prices are falling due to the release of the 45Nm range, why buy a lower spec quad core processors. Water-cooling will allow the processor to be safely clocked to 3.6ghz on a 1.475 operating voltage. This speed combined with the 1333 fsb is just excellent, gamers won't be disappointed. On my SLI system this processor was 16 to 17 percent faster than the 3.2 ghz clocked QX6700. Nothing more too say. James
There where a few good suprises with this Quad, First of all it has an unlocked mutliplier 6-60 (to be exacted) it can withstand 100°C with a good water cooling solution theres no reason for a 4Ghz overclock. I have an H50 Corsair Water cooler and have no problems @ 3.66Ghz (11 x 333). Upgraded from a dual core E8400@3w.9Ghz as it was hitting 100% on both cores during playing Bad Company 2 (full graphicall settings) now the QX6850 cpu hits around 60-70% on all 4 cores so was definately required. I would love to try this on liquid nitrogen, my next modification would maybe be a custom water cooling kit to see how far i can take the multiplier. As for upgrading, 2010 games and graphics cards have strated utilizing Quad cores better so they should as quads have been out for a while now , if you've got a dual core maybe its the right time to go for the quads if not wait for the 6 core i7's.Read full review
