Classic story brought to life by great script and talented actors!

This film is based on Charles Dickens' classic novel which takes place during the French Revolution. It is a very moving and dramatic film, laced with some comical dialogue. A movie well worth watching for a mature audience (due to the subject matter).

    • Ugly Side of French Revolution

If you ignore this historical misconception (that the French Revolution was not really a good thing) and instead follow the romantic story line, it's a superb movie. Great acting, costumes and sets. No remake comes close to this quality film. Viva la France!

    • The only one for your collection..

I've seen other versions of this movie but this is the best of them all. I would recommend it very highly. Ronald Coleman was a fine actor.

    • A movie everyone should watch at least once.

There were many fine films being made in the 1930’s, but this is one of the best. The story itself is one of the most powerful ever written, and the actors do a wonderful job bringing its characters to life — especially Blanche Yurka as Madame Defarge. Though the film is dated I like to watch it once in a while just to remind myself what a great storyteller Dickens was.
