this earphone need amp for sure. a phone or an amp which under 100 will not satisfy this beast. I have ihifi960+fiio e12a in my hand. After 100 hours running, fxz100 becomes much more better than the first 10 hours. I think this combination shows 95% of its proper performance. If the player have enough output power, or run with an amp, it is a really balanced headphone. It sounds like some over $500 earphones. Also, the design looks alien, but I don't have any difficulty with using it for hours. It is a good earphone. One more time, hifi music players which under $300, or amp under $100 will not feed this beast at all. otherwise, it is such a waste.

JVC Japanese Hi-End in-ear monitor is great sounding, but you need power to drive it and have it sound its best. My Sony NW-WM1A on high output was good, but my Benchmark DAC HGC was best—more powerful, not that I listen at loud volumes, but it sounded more natural. 100% recommended if you like Klipsch horn systems, and a great stepping-stone to the even better Cardas EM 5813 or A8 earphones that also sound like Klipsch horns—but the JVC is much cheaper, but the Cardas A8 has the best earphone cable I’ve ever felt, see the picture.

I love the heavy bass sound. Literally, the sound is very soft and well-rounded. Healing sound. In my opinion, it's not good in rocks, but fits perfectly on smooth musics.
