I was somewhat disappointed with this product, I was challanged to connect it to the camera and without a vidio I found on utube could not have done it. I used it with a gopro 4 and while it connected I could not reconnect it easily. The problem often with gopro are in complete instructions unless you go to there website or call customer support. Gopro is a very good product with lots of versatility but uncomplete documentation which is easy to understand and sometimes confusing controls present a sometimes sharp learning curve. You have to devote a fair amount of time to fully use the capabilities.

The Good: Remote is waterproof within spec's and is great for using in environments where you don't want to use your smartphone app or where you can't physically get the the camera. Like when camera is mounted on the front of your kayak. Fairly easy to set up and use. Comes with convenient wrist strap. The not so Good: I was hoping that the remote would have one button to instantly turn on camera and begin recording like the red button on the hero 5 does. Unfortunately, unless you leave the remote and camera on (and draining batteries) this can't be done. You must first turn on the remote and there is a lag while the Bluetooth connects to the camera and then you can begin recording. Once you get used to the remote it works ok but it could be better.

I was on the fence about getting the GoPro remote because some people said much of the functionality, if not more, could be done from a smartphone. However, I found it much more convenient to use the remote vs. having to use my smartphone. The remote can power on the GoPro, is waterproof, did not need to be switched between wifi networks, and has a battery life that latest a full day. I also made good use of the wrist strap, which was very nice to have. I have a GoPro 4 Silver.

Overall a solid item - but, you have to understand the typical GoPro interface, which can be a little frustrating. Other than that, it is a little more bulky than it looks in most photos - and is a little large on the wrist, but fine on a clip or lanyard. That said, I think it is a necessary accessory to get the most out of your GoPro (I have a session).

The basic functions like record and take a picture are easy to use and navigate, the settings function not so much. Overall it would've been ok if not a huge fault. The small screen is not backlit, even during bright day light is hard to see. Not in a million years I'd thought they would even think of releasing a product like that, very disappointed.
