      Ideal replacement

      Replaced thermostat in 23 yr old Vulcan hot water. No hassle at all. Same as unit removed. Has been working perfectly for past 2 weeks. - old thermostat failed. Water was boiling. Turned off circuit breaker. - went to 3 plumbing supplies stores all sell generic thermostats. completely different design. Wiring and mounting would have to changed. - by getting this unit nothing needed changing. Fits in same mount and wires removed and put back in same place. - I purchased from an Australian supplier who offered Express Post worth the extra cost. - while waiting for the delivery to rural QLD I set an alarm for each day and turned power on for 1hr in the morning and 30 minutes in the afternoon. Just test temperature isn't getting too hot as you don't want to burst the tank. - ours is an old ...
