  • A Favorite for a New Generation

I admit it. My reasons for loving this book are mostly sentimental. Sure, it's an engaging story chock-full of geography and facts about life along the waterways of the Great Lakes... not to mention illustrated in an exceptionally vivid way... but nonetheless... I will always remember visits to my Great Aunt's home in Bay Village, Ohio, when my Grandmother would trundle us kids along. My brother and sister would hunt the cat and pound on the piano. I went right for the book basket in the living room. - And I ever only read "Paddle to the Sea." It didn't matter that I'd read it dozens of times. I would go through it again. The adventures of the little wooden Indian as he was helped along his journey fascinated me. After many years, now that finding old titles is easy via the internet, I ...

  • A classic that I gift to all nieces and nephews. Geography and adventure and surprises.

A classic that I gift to all nieces and nephews at an appropriate age. The drawings are spectacular and the large pages and wonderful color justify burying a 70 year old hardcover, even if in a bit abused condition. The story is great and a surprise.

  • Great book! Great illustrations. The book I received is in great condition. It’s a wonderful “journey” story told from a native American’s perspective

Great book! Great illustrations. The book I received is in great condition. It’s a wonderful “journey” story told from a native American’s perspective. Very short, very simple. It’s for young kids, but as an adult, I really enjoyed reading it and I felt more informed about native Americans and the border and Great Lakes region between the U.S. and Canada.

  • MUST read! A GREAT way to teach geography! God Bless!

Holling C. Holling has a GREAT collection of books by which to teach geography! The pictures are wonderful and the story interesting. It's even better when you get Rea Berg's Study Guides and maps from Beautiful Feet to go along with this book! If they used these in school more children would be interested and knowledgeable about geography! It brings what can be a "dry subject" the way it's taught in our schools today to something fun and exciting! Thanks & God Bless!

  • Great old story!

Book that was read to me as a child. Brought back memories. I like the drawings also.
