This SLR camera by itself is a great item for someone making the leap from point-and-shoot photography to the art of really taking beautiful pictures. I have searched for weeks on the web and through brick and mortar stores for a camera that complements my wish to start really taking nice digial photographs. There is no question the a35K was the perfect solution. I soon realized that entering into the world of pro quality digial photography means investing in a few more items to complete the tool chest. The package deal offered made the wish list a done deal. It is a very well thoght out selection of items that make your first mid-level digital photograpy experience an amazing one. The camera seems to strike a perfect balance between ease of use and the hands-on manual manipulations necessary to turn picuture taking into “photography” The camera is compact enough to be handled easily. The HD video is of the quality you would expect from Sony. The still shot quality will leave you knowing why you finally purchased a “real” camera!Read full review
I wanted to get something better then my point and shoot Pentax. After research decided on a Sony, it is better for action/sport photos. Fairly easy to use with help for the instruction book. Excellent photos in good lighting conditions, not as good for low lighting conditions, this is common in these lower end cameras, but still will take a good photo in poor light. I plan to get a better zoom telephoto lens for surfing photos but as is a nice and easy to use camera.

I am new to the DSLRs and just started using this camera. I took the recommendations of others and also purchase a minolta 70-210 camera lens. I am really enjoying all the features of the camera. I particularly like the feature that changes the picture from the LCD screen to the eye piece just by you looking through it. I am only 1/3 of the way in the manual and plan to take a class for DSLR's. But based off of everything so far I am VERY pleased. The camera is really lightweight.
I got this so I could use my old minolta lenses,it does that very well. The instruction book is too small with too light of ink to read so I had to buy instructions. The movie mode is good if you happen to have the right sony tv. While learning to use this camera I got some pictures processed and my wife did some that had similar scenes with her nikon d40. I liked the d40 pictures much better. Both on auto setting. I am still hopeing to get a better picture out of this camera. They aren't that bad, just not up to the nikon and to be fair I am still learning.
Not the best but for what you get for the price its amazing. If you know how to use a slr this will be a great bargain but if you don't you need to play around with it a bit. pictures are great definitely not studio pics but way better than most cameras.
