I love this book! I started using colored pencils for my artwork about 6 months ago, and simply could not acheive realistic effects. In a matter of days i've developed much better skills at rendering subjects and capturing images realistically. Of course i'm not even close to Alonya's mastering of technique, but i'm definitely a less frusterated artist! Her work is brilliant and full of color. One caveat: unless you are serious about developing your skills, this book is not worth it. If you are a casual hobbyist, I think you'd find some aspects of the book technical and dry (remember, it is not a show-and-tell book, it explores technical aspects of pencils such as lightfastness and the tools used). Don't buy this book if you aren't ready to invest in quality materials. This book is for ... I love this book!
