Synopsis
Theodore is a chilling story of obsession and madness. As a young boy, Theodore was withdrawn, obscure and maladjusted- an enigma to his parents and community. Translating in five tongues is a type of refuge from the anxiety of his everyday life. His talent is prodigious and slowly he comes closer to defining himself- but at a cost: in his mother's obsessive, twisted mind, her son, her husband, her world will never be what she wants them to be. Her plots to keep the town from judging, from learning her family's secrets, wither under her unexpected and unpredictable lines of assault. About the author: Sofia Fasos, the daughter of Greek immigrants, parallels several people and events in Theodore's life with her own. Her interest in communication, culture and language led her to build a world around Theodore that is dark, insightful and all too familiar. Sofia is a Professor of Communication and a PhD student at the European Graduate School, Switzerland. She lives in New York City with her husband and daughter, Marilena.
