The sequel to cult sci-fi hit PITCH BLACK sees Vin Diesel enthusiastically returning to his role as Richard B. Riddick. Director-writer David Twohy is on board again, building on themes established in the first movie, and expanding his vision with some incredible special effects work. Twohy opens the movie with Riddick on the run from a group of bounty hunters. He escapes them with ease, then seeks information from an old friend named Inam (Keith David). Inam informs Riddick that he has been singled out by an Air Elemental, Aereon (Judi Dench), as the one man who can stop the evil Necromongers from taking over the Universe. Suddenly, the Necromongers arrive on the planet, causing mayhem and destruction. They capture Riddick. He soon escapes, only to fall into the hands of the bounty hunters he so deftly eluded at the start of the movie. They take Riddick to a rogue prison planet where he is met by scorching heat, an underground penitentiary, and his female companion from PITCH BLACK, Jack (who is now called Kyra, and played by a different actress, Alexa Davalos). They plan their escape from the planet, and vow to bring down the Necromongers. Things don't go according to plan however, leading to a suspense-filled climax to the film, and an eyebrow-raising ending that suggests Twohy may have plans for further instalments in the story.

The Furion who wishes to be left in exile and peace is soon thrown back into the web of politics of an upcoming genocidal war, to convert the non believers into the Necromonger way of life. His fate entwined with the leader of the Necromonger's from birth. Will Riddick join the human race once more or will he return to solitude. Taking a different but more fleshed out route to its mother film (Pitch Black) CoR peels away at who and what Riddick is. i wanted a hd film to play on my tnew hd tv becaus ei didnt want to buy a blu-ray and personally think hd is miles better hopefully might put them back into production soon because they ar awsome

A fantastic sequal that is SO underated!
I bought this on video from the pound shop, I wasn't expecting much but last night I watched it and I was blow away, what a brilliant film, even better than Pitch Black which frightened the life out of me. Vin Diesel is brilliant as the brutal yet tender convict Riddick who finds himself once more on the run across the Galaxy, this time with a bigger price on his head than before. Enter an old friend from Pitch Black who has settled down with his young family, a planet about to be subjugated by the brutal Necromancers, an elemental race who predict probabilities based on cause an effect, Judi Dench is wonderful in this cameo role, elegant, stylish and full of secrets, she alone knows WHAT Riddick is and why the Lord Marshal fears him so much. Karl Urban as the fanatical Lord Vakko of ... And then there is Kyra, the girl that Riddick loves but will never admit to loving, a girl he will go half way across the galaxy to find and save even if it means his own demise. This is an action packed movie from beginning to end, with state of the art special effects, some fantastic fight sequences, some hilarious moments that make you laugh out loud, some briefly gross out moments and some eye popping stunts that have you on the edge of your seat, oh and the monster dogs on the prison planet are fantastic! This is a great movie, get the Director's cut though, it's a lot better!

The Chronicles of Riddick Director's Cut
I purchased this off ebay out of interest only as I was a big fan of 'Pitch Black' but very disapointed with the original cinema version of 'Chronicles'. BUT this Director's cut is a vast improvement on the original theatre edition! The two disc box set has loads of extras including 15 minutes of footage not in the original, mostly around the action scenes which are great. The storyline is much clearer and smoother running. A fine example of the work of the butchers credited as editors who can take a descent movie and make it nonsense. Ok my rant's over.
