This is an excellent material to put in chicken coops. It keeps them dry and clean - just rake it over and when it rots down or is absorbed into soil, just buy more to top up. I have not found anything which does the job better. It lasts several months. You need to ensure there is depth to it - about 3 inches is about right - so buy more rather than skimp as it's definitely worth it. Do provide a separate dust bath for chickens though - this is essential for their physical and mental side.
