In this horror sequel from Japanese master Hideo Nakata, the curse of the videotape returns. Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts) and her son Aiden (David Dorfman) move from Seattle after their first terrible run-in with the tortured evil spirit Samara, relocating to Oregon. Attempting to make a fresh start, Rachel takes a job as a crime reporter at the local newspaper, instantly establishing a pluckily competitive friendship with colleague Max Rourke (Simon Baker). But when it turns out Samara (Kelly Stables) has followed their trail, taking out innocent teens along the way with her old videotape tricks, Rachel dives right back into the mystery. But Samara gets to her son Aiden first. And as a budding photographer in his own right, with a nifty digital camera that he takes everywhere, Aiden quickly finds his own way to harness the relentless ghost. This time, along with the familiar video imagery and spooky clues from the first film, there is a lot of flooding going on. Water pours from television sets, doorways, and especially bathtubs. In addition, there are special effects involving some undead deer who, like Samara, seem to want respite for their wrongful deaths. Sissy Spacek makes a cameo as a religious mental patient in a creepy institution. But it is Watts who steals the show as the fearless uber-mom who digs through the cobwebbed basement of a haunted house, plunges to the bottom of a slimy well, and dances with death in an attempt to stop the perpetual cycle.

Unrated Version = Better Version
The Ring Two isn't as good as the first, however the Unrated Edition is packed with so many special features as well as so many new scenes not seen in the Theatrical release. The DVD itself came in perfect condition, no scratches, no DVD wear, nothing, it came perfectly!

Very disappointing- I was expecting A LOT more...
I am a fan of The Ring and was, unfortunately, VERY disappointed by this sequel. I was expecting there to be more continuity between this movie and the first and was hoping for more info. about Samara's life, death and motives. Instead, I found the storyline difficult to follow and very similar to the movie Dark Water. [If you don't already know, Dark Water, The Ring, The Ring Two and The Grudge were all created by the same people. Although I believe there are storyline similarities between all 4 movies this one just felt like they ran out of ideas...there was NOTHING unique about it]. Many of the ideas/characters that were introduced during the movie were just dropped by the end and forgotten about. For example, there is a BIZARRE scene in which Rachel and Aiden are (literally) attacked ... I am a fan of The Ring and was, unfortunately, VERY disappointed by this sequel. I was expecting there to be more continuity between this movie and the first and was hoping for more info. about Samara's life, death and motives. What we were led to believe about Samara and how she operates in the first movie just doesn't hold true in the sequel. I believe the only real continuity between the two films is the main characters. Everything else just fell short for me and the bizarreness of some of the scenes (like the attacking deer) kept it from being scary.

Very scary the second time around!
This movie was very scary to me. I decided to buy it because when I originally saw it on the dvd release the ending was damaged. I watched it on my HDtv which was nice. The special effects were really cool. There was some scenes with the little boy that made no sense to me if this was happening to me, I would say something, which is why I only gave it a GOOD rating. It lived up to the first one but the first one was really cool and very scary. Overall, I would recommend this movie. I definitely didn't watch it at night, too chicken I guess. Watch it alone or not alone...that is the question...?
This movie was mostly based in Seattle and Oregon metro areas. I went to a school close to Port Townsend in which they filmed the first movie. I'd have to say that the second one stuck me alot more then the first. The first one had kinda of a cheesy teenager line to it which is mostly who gets drawn to some of these story lines. However, the second one involved a whole family, the risk of potentially loosing her son because of unexplained situations and the paranormall.... This is a must see. Good Sequal
While this one is not as scary as the first I thought it was a good sequal. There are a couple interesting scenes that are confusing at first but as you go more into the movie you begin to understand. A few more things are shown about the little girl and helps you understand her a little more. I thought the actors did a great job all around.
