Find the whole review @ http://gnadegames.blogspot.com Do not be turned off by Viva Pinata's colorful and kidlike presentation. Though Kids will probably adore all the colorful critters and simple controls, adults will love the depth, challenge, and overall uniqueness of the game. Is this game a "must-buy" like Gears of War? Not quite, but if you are a gamer open-minded to non-shooters and are looking for something that plays different...this game is for you. Yes this is the beginning of the review, but this game is one of the best "family" games I have ever played. There is obvious kid appeal, but nothing is overly cutesy or annoying. Adults will of course not really care to watch the "romancing danced" of the pinatas, but the game is smart enough to know that and will only show you a new movie if you breed a new species. You can skip this if you wish and watch two worm pinatas dance over and over again if you choose. The beginning of the game is very well paced and you're constantly trying to absorb everything that is thrown at you. RARE is back after a mediocre Perfect Dark Zero! OK, I'm rambling and this review is quickly deteriorating in quality so I will impose some structure: Gameplay: 8/10 Pros: There is a lot to do! and if you don't like the meaningless tasks of gardening, you can hire helpers to do it for you. The controls work well (thank god for the shortcut d-pad). It's not the most frantic gameplay, but this is a simulation game. The way you can do anything to your garden or quickly undo it and dynamically change it is just really satisfying and liberating. There are sooo many different pinatas with deep preferences and requirements. Cons: There are times when there is too much going on or you get interupted from sodding the grass or cleaning up your lot. Then there are other times when you are waiting for something to do. Overall, it's a good pace, but you feel some of the busy times could be spread over the hectic times better. I found myself lacking direction after the initial tutorials dropped off. I kept working and eventually I got it, but a little more direction or objective list would help. There is no excuse for pinata, seed, etc information to have to be loaded. When I highlight an object and click info, a menu should pop up giving me basic stats. Some species are just too picky! Graphics: 10/10 Pros: Gorgeous and vibrant garden and interesting creatures. There always so much going on...seeing a bustling garden is really a testament to the Xbox 360. The pinatas are animated really well and exude personality. The zany "human" characters all fall into the visual presentation well. The menu system and loading screens also stand out and embody the visual style of the game. Cons: Yes the game is not as stunning or jaw-dropping as "Gears" but I can't think of anything to complain about or nitpick...maybe you can. Sound/Music: 9/10 Pros: "human" characters voices are full of personality...my favorite is the sarcastic pet shop owner who is so un-thrilled with her job. The voiceovers are excellent. The pinata sounds are also tremendous and help clue you into the personality of the species. I love the pretztails and badgers (forget their pinata name). ...read the whole review @ http://gnadegames.blogspot.comRead full review
This game is different for most people. It is, of course, a kids game, but I find it really enjoyable. The whole point of the game is to get your pinata garden to grow and you get more pinatas in it and the garden grows and so on. You spend most of your time growing plants that will attract new pinata or growing plants that will make the resident pinata romance and make a baby pinata. Once you get into the game a ways you see how complex it actually is, pinata start fighting each other and eating each other and bad guys come and you sell things to make money and you call the doctor to fix the ill pinata and more. If you enjoy The Sims or Animal Crossing you will probably like this. If you have the extra cash get it and spend a few hours in it. If you want a higher gamer score spend a weekend with this. If you do get this game I have three very big tips to start you out.: 1 Grow tons of chilies with red fertilizer, 2 Start at least two gardens to separate the pinata that fight, and 3 Use a post office box to clear off land when you get the option. I've had it for a few weeks and I feel it is a very solid mess around game that can entertain me for hours at a time.Read full review
First off too anyone who thinks this game is kiddy. Some aspects of it may seem a little childish, but for those who just want to have some fun and a good time .Well Viva Pinata is the game for you! With some pretty awesome visuals I was amazed to see a game of this genre to look so well. The game will seem very familiar to those who favor the game known as Harvest Moon. The whole point of the game is to create a garden that is the king of all gardens! Attract all different species of pinata to your garden by having things like;ponds, trees, certain plants, and certain pinatas. This game is very fun and addicting, but I will point out the pet-peeves I had with this game.Remember these are just my opinion.I didnt really like how it focused more on attracting the pinata than actually being able to make a full grown garden and be able to interact with a "villiage" of people.Such as you would see in a Harvest Moon game.I also wish there was more customization to the game.I wanted to be able to color my own pinatas, but unfortunatly you have to use the colors the game gives them. Those are just 2 little things that stopped me from enjoying this game as much as I could have. They arent really a big deal or anything, but if they added it plus the ability to mess around in friends gardens and trade your custom pinatas with your Xbox Live friends. This game would have so much more going for it.In all i had a great time with this game! i give it a 8.9 - 10.Read full review
When I first played this game it frustrated the hell out of me lol. But once you realize that you can't just collect all 60 species at once and don't let yourself get attached to the smaller, more adorable, pinata since they're going to be food for the bigger more valuable pinata...it becomes lots of fun. Great game for achievement hunting as all of them can be acquired in single player mode, even if you're not an experienced gamer. There are many different ways to build your garden, which in turn determines which pinata are attracted to your garden. So if you're looking for a game that caters your a persons individual taste for game play this is an excellent choice.
As an adult at 36 yrs. Viva Pinata seems like a fun game to play. Reminds me of a Sega genesis game I once had, 'Populous', where I need to build and shape the ground, the dirt! The animals are CUTE! (the pinatas). The 'people' charaters, they're FUNNY! especially when I whack Leafos with shovel! She's funny. She goes uh uh uuhh (saying don't do that to me!) This game is very complex. There is ALOT to this game! If you are a sort of fan of videogames, You'll get the hang of this game within about 1/2 hour. But it can take quite a while to figure out what to do on new advancements.
