Motown Chartbusters Vols. 1-3 (CD 2001)
What can anyone say of motown music that hasn't been said before? One of my very favourite ever albums (I own it on vinyl) is in this set. Volume 3: Has Marvin Gaye singing 'Heard it through the Grapevine'- Who can't help to be moved listening to this one, it's a true CLASSIC and a definite favourite to many, including myself. The Islay Bros 'This old heart of mine' takes me back to my old dance hall days (disco to all you young ones out there). The Temptations (one of the greatest groups of all time) 'Get Ready' is one I could listen to all day. Volume 2: Has Diana Ross singing 'Reflections', the background sounds, all 'electronic like' on this one are incredible. Gladys Knight & The Pips give their rendition of 'Heard it through the Grapevine'. Smokey Robinson - 'I Second that Emotion' ... What can anyone say of motown music that hasn't been said before? This music takes you back to those long gone days, the singing and writing was incredible - Every track has its own history, and it's own personal memory in the hearts of people who heard it first time round, and people who listen to it for the first time today are in for a real treat. There is another set volumes 4-6. A must for any motown fanatic. SO ENJOY THESE SONGS - YOU WON'T GET ANYTHING LIKE THEM MADE TODAY. WHICH IS A DOGGONE SHAME.
