About this product

Product Information

Roger Clemens' MVP Baseball features a view that sets it apart from the majority of console baseball games. Once the ball is hit, the perspective changes to the fielder looking toward home plate. The batter-pitcher interface is more traditional, with a view from behind the catcher, and hitting the ball strictly relies on timing. Players can choose between an Exhibition or Regular Season game, with season play consisting of 33 or 39 games depending on the selected league.

While teams are based on their real-life counterparts, both MLB and MLBPA licenses are absent, meaning all team names and players (aside from Roger Clemens) are fictitious. Passwords will allow you to continue a season in your effort to reach the Championship Series. For those with both 16-bit systems, Roger Clemens' MVP Baseball for the Super Nintendo does not include errors as an option nor does it allow a choice of control configuration. "Rocket Talk" is also absent from this game, which would have offered players strategy advice from the multiple Cy Young Award winner.

  • Dont Judge the Game by the Name of the Player

This game would be one of the best early baseball games of video game history with the exception of no MLBPA licence. I enjoyed playing this game on multiple platforms(Game boy, NES, and of course SNES). The SNES version is the best of the 3, of course with better graphics and a control set up that is easy to use with the larger snes control pad. The only hang up is one of the camera angles when fielding in the outfield. If the play is at the wall you will have some difficulty viewing the landing point of the ball. The basestealing graphics and choice mode when sliding is great and probably set the early standard for this type of control mechanic. Basically you guess what part of the bag to slide to and hope the fielder doesnt pick that side. Hope this helps and I hope that you enjoy the ...

  • Limitations but Still Lots of Fun

Excellent graphics for its time. Very good control over fielders, hitters and pitchers. Some limitations -- throws are always laser light on the bag, the second baseman just stands there on balls hit through the middle, its almost impossible to steal bases or take an extra base, computer errors are almost non existent, no real player names. Even so, its still a lot of fun.

  • Roger Clemens Baseball

Solid game for those who don't need all those high tech graphics to be entertained. None of the actual team's or player's names are listed in the game except for Mr. Clemens himself, but overall a great buy!
