    Boomtown Rats still sounding good 30yrs later

    Having purchased the vinyl album some 30yrs ago I wanted to re-capture some of the memories which currently rest in a box in the loft with other Vinyl Albums and Singles. A first class album, with the added bonus of the extra tracks which featured as B sides on some of the early singles. Having seen the Rats on the Tonic for the Troops Tour the raw energy and fun of music is refreshing. For me after the Tonic for Troops album, the Rats lost a bit of the edge and perhaps could be forgiven for going for the softer / more commercial tracks that in my opinion they evolved to. Like the Undertones with Fergal Sharkey, Bob Geldof was seen as the Rats, for me the other characters in the band played their part but sadly like the Undertones once the lead singer moved on some the band folded.     Boomtown Rats

    This is the original Rats at their angry best! Remastered by Geldof and Briquette - it sounds as good as when I bought it on vinyl in 1977 - 32 years ago. Joeys on the street again and kicks are just superb.
