  • The Wombats - A Guide To Love Loss And Desperation

By now you will have probably heard of The Wombats--in particular their heavily rotated singles like "Let's Dance to Joy Division" (a song title that’s difficult to forget, or ignore) and ("Kill the Director"). Comprised of two Liverpudlians and a Norwegian, The Wombats--as their name and track titles suggest--indulge in a highly addictive type of ‘novelty-rock’ that’s edgy, well-produced--and more seriously infectious than that label would suggest. A Guide to Love ..., their debut album, is crammed to the rafters with fast-paced, catchy rock songs that offer wry lyrics and memorable sing-a-long choruses, and are fully intended to make you leap around the dancefloor. Think of Franz Ferdinand and the Kaiser Chiefs jamming with The Monkees and you won’t be far wrong. The album is ...

  • Alright...

As an avid 'consumer' of music, in virtually all it's genres, I often find myself in the position of "so much music to listen to, so little time". This results in the need to seperate the wheat from the chaff (to quote Gareth Keenen). In this situation, albums need to demand your attention. They need to be better than the previous album you bought in that genre. It doesn't stop me buying them, because I'm always looking for that next diamond in the rough, but they need to be special enough to bring me back to them. And that's where I come to my point (eventually)... this is not special. It doesn't stand out. Nothing here is new, and nothing here is of such pop genius that you completely forgive it's lack of originality. But hey, if you've got a couple of guitars and some skinny jeans, ...

Not a duff track.Modern Pop.Great Tunes.Dads can buy this and not waste their money.its a really good album that Dad will enjoy plus you get the chance to Pi** O**f yer kids cos this band are bang up to date having just played glastonbury.old farts like me can get some street cred and expand their CD collection at the same time knowing full well that your kids will hate you for being into the same stuff as them plus you can get your son or daughter to wash your car for free cos they will want to borrow it, plus you can play it when they are around and keep the piece without having to listen to the C**p that they are into that you HATE Nuff Said!!

  • Wombats Album

Famed for live performances of the last year The Wombats seem set to be propelled in to public consciousness in a somewhat similar style to Klaxons last year. But their debut effort shows not all things are signed, sealed and delivered with one album. The singles so far have received heavy rotation (Moving to New York being the highlight at present) and in the main part are a decent indie disco dancealong - this is something which runs through the whole of the album. Too early for a mercury?

  • Very Good Album

Indie-pop Perfection! The band must be right up there with the best new indie style bands that have been coming through recently! Great Album!
